AGMP in association with Straight no Chaser presents John Coltrane's masterpiece A Love Supreme, re-envisioned in a complete live performance at the Union Chapel, London.
Featuring top flautist and composer Rowland Sutherland’s radiant score Enlightenment (In the Spirit of A Love Supreme by John Coltrane).
Taking place on 9 December 2014 to coincide with the 50th Anniversary of the recording of this iconic spiritual masterpiece. The original album was recorded at the Van Gelder Studios in one session on 9 December 1964.
Following on from two sold-out performances and standing ovations in the QEH at James Lavelle’s Meltdown ‘Enlightenment’ — a bold re-envisioning of John Coltrane’s ‘A Love Supreme’ — is to be performed by a stellar 15 piece ensemble of some of Europe’s finest musicians in jazz, improvised and non-Western music, with the superb vibraphonist Orphy Robinson, of Jazz Warriors International, as MD.
