About

Young pianist Harry Bolt distinguished himself while still a student at the Trinity Laban School of Music, twice receiving their Improvisation Award and was named a finalist in the 2009 Sibelius “Composer of the Year” competition. Attending the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire on full scholarship, Harry was mentored by one of the UK’s most highly regarded pianists of all time, John Taylor. Upon graduation, Harry became known to drummer, composer and bandleader Clark Tracey and was selected to be part of Clark’s quintet, touring the UK with Clark for three years as well as recording two well-received albums (awarded 5 stars in Jazzwise magazine). Citing stylistic references including Brad Mehldau, Aaron Parks, Jacky Terrasson and Walt Weiskopf, Harry has also played with leading figures in the contemporary jazz world such as drummer Jeff Ballard, saxophonist Mark Turner and bassist Dave Holland, at venues & festivals in the UK, Europe and the US. His recent appearances at the Pizza Express and Ronnie Scott’s were both sell-outs, further signifying Harry’s growing profile amongst peers and audiences alike. Whether engaging in the fiercest of hard-bop jousting with rapid fire flights across multiple octaves or putting his stamp on a melodic ballad with measured grace and ease, Harry’s versatility is impressive and demonstrates his grasp of jazz music old and new, traditional and contemporary. His is a talent to watch out for without a doubt and at this 606 show Harry will be launching his debut CD, “Piece by Piece” with his own quartet, featuring the constantly innovative Benet McLean (Omar) on violin, the 2015 Musicians' Company's Young Jazz Musician Award winner Adam King on bass and superstar Mark Mondesir (John Scofield, John McLaughlin, Jeff Beck), drums....
