About
This international quartet put together by UK-based Italian ex-pat bass player Davide Mantovani is just great. Featuring US sax star Michael Rosen and Italian pianist Ivano Borgazzi the music is a mix of Jazz, Funk, Latin and Brazilian originals performed by some of the best musicians in Europe. Italian by birth, Davide Mantovani has been playing bass on the UK scene since 1991. An established player of great versatility he is currently the bassist with Lisa Stansfield and includes work in both the jazz and world music scenes with the likes of Baaba Maal, Seckou Keita, Andy Sheppard, Alex Wilson, Kuljit Bhamra and Antonio Forcione. An ex-pat New Yorker now resident in Italy, saxophonist Michael Rosen is known for his lyrical and versatile style. He has been heard with an impressive array of musicians including Bobby McFerrin, Jim Hall, Peter Erskine, Mike Stern and Kenny Wheeler. An alumni of the Berklee College of Music (Boston, USA), Italian pianist Ivano Borgazzi has established a solid reputation as one of Italy's finest jazz pianists, including work with Lee Konitz, Jimmy Cobb, Craig Handy and Tony Remy. Completing the quartet tonight will be another ex-pat Italian, drummer Davide Giovannini. Tonight this wonderful quartet, made up of four real jazz "characters", will be performing material from their latest album "Roots 'N' Routes" so expect some great playing and a very lively night from what Davide likes to describe as a "high voltage quartet".
