About
Mark Fletcher is one of the UK’s most versatile and in-demand drummers, equally at home in straight ahead jazz, free improvised music, rock or world music. He has been a regular at Ronnie Scott's since the late 1980's and has worked with a who’s-who of jazz icons including Dizzy Gillespie, Michel LeGrand, Ronnie Scott, Mark Murphy, Liane Carroll, Soft Machine, Flora Purim, Norma Winstone, Georgie Fame, Ian Shaw and Cedar Walton. The music is an eclectic mix of 70's hard bop, hard driving Jazz/Groove and Crossover Jazz/Funk, all driven along by Mark's powerful and impressive drumming. Also featured with the band is one of the UK's most respected sax players, the brilliant Mornington Lockett, who includes work alongside Mark in the Ronnie Scott quintet as well as with the likes of Stan Tracey, Arturo Sandeval, Don Grusin, Jim Mullen, Martin Drew, Claire Martin, Sarah Jane Morris and Ian Shaw. Completing the quartet are two of the finest jazz musicians in the UK, the Award-winning Tom Cawley (Curios)-piano and Laurence Cottle (Al Jarreau, Claire Martin)-bass....
