This quartet of highly talented artistically diverse musicians are widely considered to be one of the leading lights of the "nu-soul"/electro groove genre. Currently making a significant impact on the UK music scene their original and imaginative compositions fuse jazz, soul, trip hop and electronic music to create a truly unique musical soundscape. Hearing the band live is a remarkable experience and they have been dazzling audiences from Cardiff (where the band was originally formed) to mainland Europe in both Clubs and high profile festivals, including the likes of The London Jazz Festival, Umea Jazz Fest and Love Supreme. Their critically-acclaimed eponymous debut album, released on Edition records in February last year, brilliantly captures the impact of their live gigs, BuzzMag calling it a "stunning first album" and AllAboutJazz commenting “It’s beautiful, imaginative and ambitious". Their new EP, “Into the Distance” continues this lush aural trajectory, evoking comparisons to iconic groups such as Portishead, Soul II Soul and Massive Attack while reflecting their emergence as a band forging their own distinct path in an increasingly complex musical landscape. Keyboard player Dave Stapleton crafts sumptuous melodies and strikes the perfect balance between the experimental and the band’s deep soul origins, Dionne Bennett provides both lead & vocal harmonies for the band with a presence and intensity that few others could match, marking her out as a genuine star of the future. Completing the line-up is the multi instrumentalist Deri Roberts on electronics, trombone and saxophone and Elliot Bennett (no relation to Dionne) on drums and drum programming. Not your traditional rhythm section by any means! This band, making their debut appearance at the club tonight for what promises to be a fantastic evening, really is one to look out for in 2015. So book early to see one of the most interesting live performances of the year....
